Summary

Under the supervision of the Human Resources, Health and Safety, Environment Manager, the Preventionist is responsible for the operationalisation of various health programs, work safety and environment in support to the orientations and objectives. His main internal clients are located in Nunavut, as a priority, he must work with managers and employees of this sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, safety visits with foremen – clients, task observations and others;

  • Coach managers on risk situations, support them, as a specialist, in their prevention efforts;

  • Correct unsafe working methods with managers and staff;

  • Follow-up of prevention tools at the level of health and safety performance indicators or environment;

  • Write and review work procedures in compliance with laws and regulations;

  • Participate in accident surveys and analyses, identify solutions to eliminate or reduce risk and ensure follow-ups;

  • Prepare and conduct meetings dealing with health and safety and/or environment, support supervisors in the implementation and conduct of their health and safety meetings.

Profile and requirements

  • Ten years of experience in underground and surface drilling;

  • Hold a health and safety certificate or equivalent work experience;

  • Be bilingual both written and oral (French, English);

  • Be available to work on a 14/14 schedule;

  • Have the ability to manage several files simultaneously, prioritize, plan and deliver on time quality work;

  • Knowledge of the computer tools in the Office suite, primarily Excel;

  • Knowledge of the Northern environment is an asset.
