Summary

The underground assistant driller works in constant collaboration with the driller and must follow directives to maintain effective drilling operations.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Install the drill safely on the underground drilling site;

  • Perform the maintenance of work tools;

  • See to the supply of equipment to be used;

  • Manipulate the core sample tubes (place and retrieve);

  • Insure proper placement of core samples in boxes;

  • Assist in the displacement of the drill;

  • Perform all other tasks necessary for the proper progress of the drilling operations.

Profile and Requirements

  • Completion of Diploma of Vocational Studies in Diamond Drill, is an asset;

  • Completion of mining modules FMTM 1-2-3-4-5-7;

  • Hold a valid General Explosives Permit , or to be able to obtain one;

  • Have a valid driver’s licence;

  • Have at least 6 months of experience as an underground assistant driller;

  • Good physical capacity and endurance;

  • Ability to adapt in an underground environment;

  • Ability to work in a team;

  • Comfortable and motivated in a production environment.

Work Schedule

  • Schedule to be determined, 10 hours a day, day shift and night.
