What you will be doing: Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions Transferring gases from cylinders to sample bags Crushing rocks and sediments Weighing samples on a micro balance Filtering water samples and basic benchtop wet chemistry Working in a fume hood with solvents such as toluene, hexane, etc. Handling sour (H2S) samples (gases, oils, and water) Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning workstations and waste disposal Meet quality assurance and turn around time specifications Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures Other duties as assigned What you bring to the table: Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Degree required. 0-2 years previous laboratory experience. Experience using a high precision microbalance for weighing samples is an asset. An understanding of the principles of chemistry and preferably geochemistry. This could be experience with natural gases, oils, oil industry experience, etc. Unit conversion concepts. Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel. Mature work ethic, with the ability to work in a positive manner in a fast-paced environment. Problem solving, communication, organization, and time management. Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis and perform work in a hot environment. Why Join Us?
