Qualifications Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of 16 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, is required. A strong background in project execution within the mining and metals industries is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively lead teams and collaborate with clients and vendors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to cultivate a collaborative team environment, drive mechanical design initiatives, and deliver complex projects on time and within budget. Professional engineering licensure is preferred but not mandatory. Responsibilities Lead project scope development, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery. Design mechanical equipment and systems across all project phases, from conceptualization to detailed engineering and commissioning. Evaluate performance metrics and determine appropriate equipment sizing to optimize operational efficiency and safety. Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management to engineering team members, fostering professional growth and accountability. Support proposal development activities, including technical writing and client presentations. Ensure all designs and project activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate seamless project execution. Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact. Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and safety within the engineering team.
