Autoclave Technician

Job Description: WE’RE LOOKING FOR A AUTOCLAVE TECHNICIAN POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ONTARIO This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Manufacturing. The autoclave technician is responsible for the operation of the autoclaves and curing ovens to cure composite parts. The autoclave technician is also responsible for de-molding the parts after the cure using pneumatic tools and small hand tools. Required to work weekly rotating shifts. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Production Strong knowledge of composite lay-up autoclave and ovens. Understanding of various production steps and processes. Ability to maintain operating equipment – ie: Thermocouples, tooling, hand tools. Clean, prepare, assemble, and store molds properly. Loading the autoclave using pump carts, lifting layup molds onto stands/carts. Demolding parts – use of hammers, wedges, compressed air. Disassembly/Assembly of layup molds in order to demold parts and clean tooling. Maintenance of all vacuum hoses – changing hose fittings and seals. Maintenance of vacuum valves – changing fittings. Use of overhead crane to sling/lift tools onto tooling mezzanine. Communicate with the supervisor to ensure priorities, issues are identified. Troubleshoot issues with cures to determine solutions. Achieves team production goals by working to meet all operational and quality standards to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Prepares, sets up, loads programs, operates equipment, monitors data, and ends operation cycles using various curing vessels. Operates pallet jacks, to safely load and unload layup tools for the cure operation. Ensures manufacturing traceability by verifying all paperwork is accurate for the operation being performed. Performs vacuum integrity checks using manual/on-line computer system. Prepares data reports for review by the Quality Assurance team. Performs basic troubleshooting of issues and escalates when required. Monitor the condition of moulds daily & become familiar with when moulds will require repair. Foster health and safety in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements. Demonstrate standard work practices to ensure quality standards are met. Ensure work areas and equipment kept clean and neat – 5S and FOD free. Assist with work station set up. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Depth of knowledge of the technical field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of quality requirements and how to effectively met quality standards. Service Minded. Team work focus Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Organized Individual. Excellent communication skills. Ability to set priorities & Multitask. Work independently under general supervision. Attention to detail. Problem solving skills. Follow standardized work instructions. Be able to use measuring instrument and ability to read blueprint. The Autoclave Technician is responsible for operating autoclaves and curing ovens to process composite parts while maintaining equipment and tooling. They also perform de-molding tasks, conduct vacuum integrity checks, and ensure all production documentation is accurate.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes. Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred, along with the ability to work rotating shifts and use various hand and pneumatic tools.
