Your Opportunity: The Sleep Technologist plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders by performing comprehensive polysomnographic studies and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions. Working closely with patients, physicians, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Sleep Technologist delivers high-quality diagnostic and clinical care while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and education throughout the sleep testing process. Responsibilities include preparing patients for overnight sleep studies, collecting and analyzing clinical information, applying monitoring equipment, conducting and monitoring polysomnographic recordings, implementing physician-directed therapeutic interventions, scoring and interpreting sleep studies, and maintaining sleep laboratory equipment and quality standards. The successful candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, and sleep-related anatomy and physiology, along with expertise in sleep diagnostics and treatment. They will demonstrate advanced proficiency with healthcare technology and diagnostic software, strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to make sound clinical decisions in a dynamic environment. Description: As a Sleep Technologist, under general supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist you will perform polysomnographic recordings for sleep studies including EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, Oximetry and Respiratory Effort. You will obtain relevant patient information and explain sleep study process to clients/patients. You will conduct transcutaneous monitoring (arterial blood gases) and monitor client's progress applying appropriate therapeutic interventions if required. You will document clinical manifestations including abnormalities, calibrations, artifact interventions and treatments. You will also educate clients and family on sleep disorders and the use, cleaning and maintenance of equipment. You will calibrate a variety of equipment such as oximeters, multi-channel recorders, electro and spectrographic recorders. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) Certificate. Registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA), College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Additional Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited community college or university program in a related healthcare discipline (e.g., Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or equivalent). Extensive knowledge of sleep disorders, including their pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and impact on diverse patient populations. Expertise in analyzing and interpreting polysomnographic data to identify and assist in the diagnosis of sleep disorders. Thorough understanding of medications commonly prescribed to sleep medicine patients and their potential effects on sleep architecture and study results. Advanced competency in PAP therapy titration, including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), Adaptive Servo-Ventilation (ASV), and supplemental oxygen therapy. Exigences

Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, or a related healthcare discipline and be registered with their respective provincial college. A current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS-HCP) certificate is also required.
