AMECO is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Technician/Off Road Technician to join our team for an immediate opening based out of our Terrace Operations Centre, supporting work at the KSM Project About AMECO AMECO is a full-service, global supplier of vehicles, construction equipment, tools, Scaffold and other support services, along with asset management solutions across multiple industries and government agencies. This position is responsible for safely diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a broad range of off-road construction and support equipment in a field environment. Rotation: 2 weeks on /1 week off, 12-hour shifts, typically Saturday to Saturday. Camp-based position: Employees are required to stay in camp during each work period. Overtime is required. About KSM and Location KSM (Kerr-sulphurets-Mitchell) is a major copper, gold, silver and molybdenum project in northwestern British Columbia, approximately 65 km northwest of Stewert, near the BC-Alaska Border. This is a remote, camp-based position, approximately 360-380 km from Terrace. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, maintain and repair a range of off-road construction equipment, including John Deere, Caterpillar, Volvo, Hitachi and Komatsu equipment. Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair work on complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Use diesel diagnostic software to support accurate troubleshooting and repairs. Work safely and efficiently in the field in a variety of weather conditions. Complete required site safety documentation, including FLHAs and observation cards. Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to working safely. Perform other related duties as required. Required Qualifications Journeyperson Off-Road Technician certification. Verifiable experience diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of off-road construction equipment. Experience working with complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Proficiency using diesel diagnostic software. Ability to work safely and independently in a field environment. Preferred Experience Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining medium and small diesel equipment, including water pumps, light towers and generators. Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining on-highway tractor-trailers. Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining light vehicles. Experience working on all makes and models of construction support equipment, including Polaris off-highway vehicles. Proficiency in the use of tooling and a service truck. Skills & Work Expectations Strong leadership skills. Familiarity with job-site protocols and safety requirements. Adaptability and flexibility in changing work conditions and environments. Ability to work with limited or no supervision. Active participation in daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings. Certifications, Licenses, Registration Journeyperson Heavy Duty Technician/Off Road Technician Certification Valid Class 5 driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract Complete KSM- specific orientation and required site safety training before mobilization. Physical Demands/Requirements Safely perform the essential duties of the role, including frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching and working in awkward positions. Ability to lift, carry and handle tools, parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. (23 kg) with mechanical aids. Climb on and off equipment and access elevated work areas as required. Work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in dusty, noisy and uneven terrain environments/ Wear required personal protective equipment and work safely around heavy equipment and high-pressure systems. Work 12-hour shifts in a remote, camp-based setting Access Requirements The successful candidate must meet KSM site-access requirements, including required pre-access drug and alcohol testing and provision of a driver's abstract. Requires Journeyperson Off-Road Technician certification, verifiable experience maintaining and repairing off-road construction equipment, and proficiency with diesel diagnostic software. Candidates must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable abstract, work safely and independently in the field, and complete required KSM orientation and site safety training.
