Role Description This Night Shift Millwright role at Arla Foods is an on-site position based in Newmarket, ON. The Millwright will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing dairy processing and packaging equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation during the night shift. Typical tasks include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, replacing parts and components, and supporting equipment upgrades and installations. The role also involves documenting maintenance activities, following safety and food-quality procedures, and collaborating with production and sanitation teams to minimize downtime. The Millwright will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment. Qualifications Red Seal or equivalent Millwright certification, with proven experience in industrial or food manufacturing environments. Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, packaging machinery, and other rotating equipment. Working knowledge of basic electrical systems, PLC-driven equipment, and automation troubleshooting is an asset. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance documentation. Demonstrated commitment to safety, food quality, and regulatory compliance in a production setting. Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions under time pressure. Comfort working permanent night shifts, with reliable availability and punctuality for on-site work in Newmarket, ON. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer literacy. Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures. Prior experience in the dairy or broader food and beverage industry is an advantage. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or apprenticeship completion is preferred.
