JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW Join AtkinsRéalis as a Principal Marine Structural Engineer within our Ports & Marine team. In this senior engineering leadership role, you will help shape the future of marine infrastructure projects across Atlantic Canada while driving technical excellence, innovation, and project delivery. Working closely with clients, industry partners, and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide strategic direction on complex ports and marine projects, support business growth, and contribute to the continued success of our Ports & Marine practice. This position can be based in Bedford, Nova Scotia or St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador, with hybrid work options available. YOUR ROLE * Lead business development activities and oversee project execution across the Atlantic region. * Act as the technical authority and escalation point for complex and high-risk marine structural projects. * Define and approve design approaches, standards, and methodologies for ports and marine infrastructure. * Lead advanced structural analyses, independent engineering reviews, and technical assessments. * Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to senior and intermediate engineers. * Support proposal development, including scope definition, fee estimation, and technical content preparation. * Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing senior technical input throughout project lifecycles. ABOUT YOU * B.A.Sc./B.Eng. in Civil or Structural Engineering * P.Eng. (PEGNL, ENS) with ability to obtain registration in other Canadian jurisdictions. * Approximately 15 to 18+ years of experience in the design and delivery of ports and marine structures. * Recognized Project Manager and technical expert with strong engineering judgment and accountability for technical decisions. * Aptitude for technical leadership, engineering judgment, mentoring, and multidisciplinary coordination. * Excellent communication skills for senior client engagement and technical leadership. Expected compensation for this role is between $117,200 - $161,200 annually . Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
