As a mechanical engineer at BBA’s Calgary office, you’ll play a key role in all phases of engineering projects, from front-end studies to detailed design and field implementation. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality, identification and development of new business opportunities and client relationships and for providing mentorship and guidance to some of our more junior team members. Take a lead role in client communications and business development Develop scopes of work, budgets, methodologies and proposals Lead all or only mechanical scopes of work on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies and detailed engineering Serve as the project manager or project leader on engineering mandates within the mining and metals, hydroelectric power, renewable energy, and pulp and paper industries Play a key role on small to major brownfield and greenfield mining projects Perform mechanical and piping engineering calculations Define client requirements and prepare or review reports, estimates and specifications Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, commissioning and testing Mentor and coach junior and intermediate engineers, share knowledge and support the enhancement of team capabilities Foster a culture of having fun at work while delivering high-quality professional work Do your qualities and values match our corporate culture? Entrepreneurial spirit Desire to motivate and train the next generation Strong commitment to health and safety Willingness to work together while having fun Sense of equity and inclusion Efficient, both at the office and the work site Eco-mindful Interest in solving the most complex challenges Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements University degree in mechanical engineering From 8 to 12 years of relevant engineering experience, with a preference of over 5 years in consulting and more than 2 years of site experience Eligible to register with the APEGA as a P.Eng Industrial project experience in the oil and gas, carbon capture, mining and metals, hydroelectric power, renewable energy and/or pulp and paper industries A valid class 5 AB driver’s licence Ability to travel on short notice to client sites (approximately 20-30% of the time) Strong written and spoken communication Experience preparing and reviewing technical documents such as reports, specifications, studies, plans and work instructions Ability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering, develop plant layouts, select and validate mechanical equipment and size pumps Experience with design deliverables such as P&IDs, piping isometrics, layouts, elevations, equipment and line lists, vendor equipment drawings and more Familiarity with AACE capital cost estimation Familiarity with ASME BVPC, B31.1/B31.3, API 65 Proficiency in mechanical and piping software (e.g., SolidWorks, AFT Fathom/Arrow or equivalent, Ceasar2, AutoCAD) Strong soft skills with demonstrated ability to lead teams and delegate work An Overview Of BBA’s Total Rewards Annual premium program for regular employees Onsite mobility premium Time bank Cellphone fee reimbursements Group insurance plan from the first day of employment, including disability insurance and a telemedicine program Retirement savings plan Annual vacation and sick leave Premium for employee referrals BBA considers many factors when determining the annual base salary, including location, market, education, relevant and demonstrated work experience, technical assessment, qualifications, certifications and other relevant skills. Requirements

Requires a university degree in mechanical engineering and 8 to 12 years of experience, with eligibility for P.Eng registration with APEGA. Must have industrial project experience and the ability to travel to client sites 20-30% of the time.
