BelPak is growing and is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for its Thornmount facility, located in Scarborough, for the Afternoon shift. The individual must be flexible to work all shifts. The successful candidate will: Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines; Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards; Adjust machine components, machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product; Regulate machine flow or speed; Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor; Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material; Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides; Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly; Perform preventative maintenance on packaging lines as the schedule requires; Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders; Train Packaging Equipment Operators; Assist with production on lines as required; Able to source & order parts through online maintenance program; Collaborate with management to propose equipment alterations and enhancements, as well as to assess new equipment options for consideration; Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act; Other duties as assigned. Education/Work experience requirements: 1-2 year’s experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in primary and secondary packaging (e.g. shrink wrapping, overwrapping and cartoning); Engineering/Technical Education background; Licensed Millwright not required Key technical & behavioural competencies: Mechanically inclined; Technical mindset; Experience using ERP/MRP systems; High attention to detail; Good communication skills; Works effectively in a fast-paced environment; Microsoft Office Suite of Products This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
