About the Company The Electro Mechanical Technician / Technologist supports the maintenance, improvement, and introduction of manufacturing equipment used in the machining and assembly of powertrain components. The position involves a mix of electrical, mechanical, and basic controls tasks, with increasing responsibility as experience develops. Responsibilities Support day to day troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and controls related issues on manufacturing equipment. Assist with equipment upgrades, small automation projects, and process improvements. Work closely with Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering during equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning. Perform basic PLC, HMI, drive, and sensor diagnostics, escalating more complex issues as needed. Assist in implementing corrective actions following equipment downtime or quality issues. Participate in equipment handovers, documentation, and basic training materials. Follow all applicable safety, electrical, and machine guarding standards. Qualifications Fundamental understanding of: Electrical systems (24 VDC, basic AC power, sensors, relays) Mechanical systems (pneumatics, hydraulics, motion components) Exposure to PLC controlled equipment (any major platform). Ability to troubleshoot using wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation. Basic proficiency with standard hand tools, electrical test equipment (multimeter, etc.). Comfortable working on the shop floor in a hands-on, production environment. Ability to work safely, methodically, and document work performed. PLCs, HMIs, servos, drives, and safety systems. Assembly equipment such as torque systems, presses, vision systems, and functional testing. Material handling equipment (robots, conveyors, automated transfer systems). CNC machine fundamentals and basic interfacing (Fanuc / Siemens exposure an asset). Industrial networking basics (Ethernet, simple device communications). Use of basic CAD tools (2D/3D) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Structured problem-solving techniques. Required Skills Fundamental understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Exposure to PLC controlled equipment. Ability to troubleshoot using wiring diagrams and electrical schematics. Basic proficiency with standard hand tools and electrical test equipment. Comfortable working in a production environment. Ability to work safely and document work performed. Preferred Skills Post secondary diploma or degree in Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or a related discipline. Experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
