GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN (LICENSED) Schedule: 12-hour night shift, 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off Location: Yellowknife, NT Compensation: $31.55–$43.50 per hour, with opportunities to earn and bank overtime in accordance with the GAFAE Collective Agreement. Starting salary will be determined based on internal equity and the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. Travel & Accommodation: Employees rotate in from Ottawa, ON and are eligible for travel reimbursement of up to $1,000 per month. Company-arranged accommodations are provided during rotational assignments. Reporting to: Manager, Ground Support Equipment ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Ground Support Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair, diagnosis, and preventative maintenance of all GSE equipment within the Canadian North equipment list. What You'll Do * Service, troubleshoot and repair of ground support equipment; * Ensure that all work carried out is properly documented; * Maintain care and control of Company publications, tools and equipment; * Use shop equipment in accordance with safety standards; * Maintain clean and orderly work areas; * Provide excellent customer service; * Ability to travel away from base; * Other related duties as assigned. What You'll Bring * High School diploma or equivalent related work experience; * Minimum Five (5) years of previous experience; * Must possess automotive and heavy equipment repair experience with working knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and propane engines/systems; * Must hold an Automotive Technician license or Coach/Truck or Heavy Equipment license; * Inter-provincial certification considered an asset; * Previous experience with minor welding and fabricating considered an asset; * Basic knowledge of electronics, fuel injection systems and hydraulic systems considered an asset; * Must possess a valid drivers license; * Must possess minimal hand tools; * Ability to work under minimal supervision; * Must have the ability to perform physical labour related duties; * Must have the ability to travel to our remote communities; * Ability to communicate in Inuktitut an asset; * Must obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada TOTAL REWARDS & EMPLOYEE BENEFITS * Biweekly vacation pay * 112 hours of paid personal leave time * Comprehensive health and dental benefits * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) * Retirement savings programs with employer matching opportunities * Travel privileges with Canadian North and partner airlines * Cargo shipping privileges * Employee discounts on travel, hotels, car rentals, insurance, mobile plans, and more ROTATION, ACCOMMODATION & TRAVEL LOGISTICS Canadian North supports employees working rotational schedules by providing: * Company-arranged meals and accommodation during active rotations * Reimbursement of up to $500 per direction to a maximum of $1000 per month for approved rotational travel * A predictable 3-week-on / 3-week-off schedule that supports work-life balance * Time at home between scheduled rotations HIRING PROCESS Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Requirements
