Role Description The Journeyman Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Leamington, ON. The technician will install, service, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, and related mechanical equipment. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring all work meets safety and regulatory standards. The role also involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, coordinating with project managers and other trades, documenting work performed, and communicating clearly with clients on findings and recommendations. The technician will support emergency service calls, participate in on-call rotations, and help optimize system performance and energy efficiency. Qualifications Mechanical and HVAC systems skills: strong proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC equipment and performing preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial systems. Plumbing skills: ability to work with piping, valves, and related components associated with HVAC and hydronic systems. Electrical skills: solid understanding of electricity, including motors, controls, wiring, and safe working practices with electrical circuits. Regulatory and safety skills: familiarity with EPA or equivalent environmental regulations, refrigerant handling, and adherence to occupational health and safety standards. Valid journeyperson HVAC/Refrigeration license or equivalent trade certification, with experience in commercial or industrial environments. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals, and to use diagnostic tools and test equipment effectively. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to work independently and as part of a team in on-site conditions. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to urgent service needs.
