Comment vous contribuerez: Réaliser des tests optiques et électriques sur des composants photoniques et électroniques. Assembler des prototypes opto-mécaniques destinés au développement de produits. Analyser les données d’assemblage et de test et documenter les résultats. Recommander des actions correctives à partir des résultats obtenus. Améliorer les processus, outils et l’efficacité opérationnelle du laboratoire. Élaborer des procédures d’inspection, de test et d’assemblage et maintenir la documentation technique. Contribuer au développement, à l’introduction de nouveaux produits et à l’amélioration des produits existants. Qualifications requises: Formation: Diplôme d’études collégiales en technologie du génie physique ou formation équivalente. Expérience: 0 à 5 ans d’expérience en photonique, en optique, en électronique ou dans un domaine connexe. Être à l’aise avec la manipulation de composants électroniques et optiques, y compris les lasers à semi-conducteurs, les puces de silicium et les lentilles. Connaître les bases des procédés de micro-placement de composants et de liaison par fils. Connaître les concepts reliés à l’alignement optique, le couplage fibre-guide d’onde, l’alignement en espace libre et la caractérisation de composants optiques. Être à l’aise avec la manipulation, le nettoyage et la fusion de fibres optiques ainsi qu’avec le prototypage opto-mécanique et l’assemblage électronique. Capacité à travailler dans un environnement contrôlé et à résoudre des problèmes techniques et expérimentaux. Être en mesure de collaborer avec des équipes multidisciplinaires comprenant technologues, ingénieurs, chercheurs et assistants techniques. Avoir un esprit d’initiative et être autonome. Maîtrise du français à l’oral et à l’écrit. Est un atout: Expérience dans un environnement de recherche et développement. Connaissance de l’anglais pour communiquer avec les fournisseurs d’équipements. Disponibilité pour des déplacements occasionnels. Ciena is seeking a Photonics Technologist to contribute to the characterization of silicon photonic components, assembly of product prototypes, and development of test stations. This role supports innovation within the Advanced Packaging team through laboratory-based testing, prototyping, and continuous process improvement. How you will make an impact: Perform optical and electrical testing on photonic and electronic components. Assemble opto-mechanical prototypes for product development activities. Analyze assembly and test data and document findings. Recommend corrective actions based on test results and observations. Improve laboratory processes, tools, and operational efficiency. Develop inspection, test, and assembly procedures and maintain technical documentation. Contribute to new product introduction and enhancement of existing products. The must haves: Education: College diploma in Physical Engineering Technology or equivalent education. Experience: 0 to 5 years of experience in photonics, optics, electronics, or a related technical field. Application of electronic and optical component handling, including semiconductor lasers, silicon chips, lenses, and related devices. Application of component micro-placement processes and wire bonding methods. Application of optical alignment, fiber-to-waveguide coupling, free-space alignment, and optical component characterization. Application of optical fiber handling, cleaning, splicing, opto-mechanical prototyping, and basic electronics and mechanics. Ability to work in a controlled and dust-free environment and resolve technical and experimental issues. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including technologists, engineers, researchers, and technical assistants. Initiative, innovation, and ability to work independently. French language capability, written and verbal. Nice to have Background working in a research and development environment. English language capability for communication with equipment suppliers. Availability for occasional travel. Pay Range: The annual pay range for this position is C$55,700 - C$88,900.
