Job Details Reporting to the Manager Roads and Infrastructure the Construction Compliance Technologist is responsible for helping plan and administer the City’s Capital Roads Program, ensuring infrastructure is installed meeting City of Cranbrook standards and meets all applicable bylaws and good engineering standards. The incumbent assists with inspections on new Subdivisions, and the maintenance/operation of the City’s Asset Management Program. POSTING TYPE: Internal POSITION TYPE: Full-time HOURS OF WORK: 35- hour work week, as per schedule HOURLY RATE $52.3539 - $54.3632 per hour, Pay Grade 15 – Schedule “A” Inside Employees ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION * Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution LICENSES / CERTIFICATES * Valid Class Five (5) Driver's License * Applied Science Technologist (AScT) designation EXPERIENCE * Three (3) years’ experience of field construction inspection in the areas of asphalt, concrete, road works, sewer and storm systems. SPECIFIC SKILLS * Proficient in computer use, including modelling software, spreadsheets, and word processing, etc. * Proficient in estimating, measuring and recording quantities of materials. * Proficient in daily recording of construction activities in clear and concise manner. * Proficient in survey layout. * Knowledge of Provincial/Federal regulations and guidelines affecting municipal construction activities. * Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tender documents and specifications and conduct field survey layout work. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable tact, courtesy and diplomacy in dealing with members of the public, other agencies and staff. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS * High degree of initiative and sound judgement. * Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision. * Demonstrated ability to perform all of the duties outlined in a safe manner following established City policies and procedures; WorkSafeBC * Possess working knowledge of City of Cranbrook Contract and Specifications for Municipal Services, MMCD standards, and general municipal engineering construction practices and procedures. * This position is privy to sensitive developer and consultant information; confidentiality is required. * Satisfactory Police Information Check requred. Exigences

Candidates must hold a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and possess an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) designation. A minimum of three years of field construction inspection experience and a valid Class 5 Driver's License are required.
