Maple Ridge, British Columbia Facilities Maintenance Technician POSITION OVERVIEW:The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of municipal facilities and building systems. This role performs a broad range of technical maintenance work, ensuring building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards. Maintain and operate building systems including HVAC, lighting, ventilation, and mechanical systems Inspect equipment, monitor system performance, and perform routine maintenance and repairs Troubleshoot issues and complete minor repairs; escalate complex issues as required Perform preventative maintenance tasks (e.g., filters, belts, pumps, valves, lubrication, etc.) Support a variety of general maintenance activities (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting) Prepare and manage work plans, schedules, and work orders using maintenance systems Procure parts and supplies and maintain inventory records Provide direction and support to facility maintenance staff Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices and procedures KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, operation and repair of facilities, building system components, equipment and/or related installations.Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety practices peculiar to the work.Working knowledge of building systems and of the provincial regulations governing operations.Ability to operate and adjust equipment and automated control systems, make repairs and replace components.Ability to provide direction to facility staff engaged in maintenance work.Ability to work with limited direct supervision.Ability to prepare work plans and schedules, non-complex records and to order and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies.Skill in the care and use of tools and testing equipment. Desireable Education And Experience Completion of Grade 12 plus technical courses related to the work, preferably Fourth-Class Power Engineer Certificate, and sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Relevant experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experienceFourth Class Power Engineer Certificate (preferred) LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC.HOURS OF WORK: As per schedule B note R Employees in this class shall work eight (8) consecutive hours between 3:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. exclusive of an unpaid 30 minute lunch period. The standard work week shall consist of any five (5) consecutive days including weekend days of Saturday and/or Sunday.
