Job Opportunity: Maintenance Team Member ---------------------------------------- POSITION SUMMARY As an ambassador of The Sundial Hotel Whistler, the Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining and repairing all building and suite equipment, ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of hotel grounds, and following the hotel's preventative maintenance program. The team also ensures daily inspections and chemical testing of all hot tubs to guarantee safety and availability for guest use. In addition, the Maintenance Team plays a key role in maintaining the safety and security of guests, employees, and the hotel property by upholding policies and procedures designed to minimize risk and loss. This role extends beyond the job description—team members will be trained across various departments and may be required to assist wherever needed to deliver seamless, exceptional service. ---------------------------------------- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES EFFICIENCY & COMMUNICATION * Foster strong communication and cooperation across all departments, suppliers, and partners * Maintain comprehensive knowledge of both the Sundial Boutique Hotel and Carleton Lodge layouts and facilities SAFETY * Maintain a clean and safe work environment and actively participate in health and safety practices * Use correct cleaning chemicals and protective gear as required * Report and act on safety concerns promptly * Maintain a full working knowledge of emergency procedures, including the hotel fire panel ADMINISTRATION * Complete and track Work Orders and charge-backs daily * Respond to emails and team requests in a timely and professional manner MAINTENANCE * Execute the hotel's preventative maintenance program * Complete and log maintenance requests and inspections (e.g., hot tubs, common areas) * Perform minor repairs (e.g., drywall, tile, locks, fixtures, drapes) * Assist guests with in-room technology issues * Clean the garbage room and building exteriors as needed * Conduct snow removal and salting of common areas as required SECURITY * Patrol hotel properties (Sundial and Carleton Lodge) regularly * Respond to hotel alarms and incidents promptly * Liaise with external authorities (e.g., police, fire) when necessary * Complete and file occurrence reports * Monitor parking and enforce towing policy when necessary ---------------------------------------- PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS * Demonstrate and promote the company’s core values * Adhere to the mission, vision, and guiding principles * Be punctual and respectful toward all team members * Offer support across departments whenever possible * Meet deadlines and fulfill commitments * Monitor hotel conditions and promptly address issues * Communicate professionally in all internal and external formats * Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guest and owner information * Solve problems effectively and multitask as needed * Work well independently and as part of a team ---------------------------------------- JOB REQUIREMENTS * Previous maintenance or facilities experience is an asset but not required * Trade experience (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) is a strong asset * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs * Availability for evening and weekend shifts * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills * Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively Compensation & Benefits * $27 per hour * Free staff parking in Whistler Village * Free bike/ski storage at the hotel * Staff activities * Extended Health Benefits after 6 months (Full-Time) * Seasonal Summer/Winter Bonus (Full-Time)
