Position Summary Temporary Full-Time Appendix D Support Staff, replacement contract position (October 12, 2026 – April 28, 2028) The Library Technologist acts as a resource person, providing essential services in the areas of Instructional Support and Collection Development for specified college program areas. The incumbent also provides frontline reference, circulation, and media services. The successful candidate will be required to conduct on-site work five days per week at Conestoga’s Doon campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener. The Library Technologist will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional travel will be required between Conestoga campuses located in Waterloo and Cambridge, with shift adjustments to 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. based on operational needs. Responsibilities Instructional and research support With oversight from a Librarian, develops, delivers, and assesses instructional workshops focused on research skills Develops library instruction support materials, both in-print and online Promotes the value of Information Literacy and related services in dealings with faculty Delivers one-on-one or group research consultations, guiding users to develop their research skills and locate resources Assists faculty with the location of relevant support materials for integration into the course curriculum Participates in new program proposals and accreditation for existing programs by compiling data and writing reports Frontline services Provides reference services for Conestoga employees, students, and the community Provides circulation services using the integrated library system, media loan/booking services, and other frontline services, which may be added over time Media loan and booking services Collection development Selects resources for purchase with the aim of developing a timely and accessible collection Maintains and deselects materials for specified program areas as appropriate Assesses donations for the same programs to determine relevance to the library collection Accurately records and tracks purchases Reviews and makes recommendations on the periodical and e-resource subscriptions for their program areas Works on special projects related to library services and resources Qualifications A four-year degree combined with completed formal education in Library Science is required Three years of relevant experience in a library setting is required; experience in an academic library is preferred Specialized knowledge of collection development and information literacy practices Formal training in instructional strategies would be considered an asset Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles Experience in the development of digital learning objects Excellent problem analysis and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as a team player Excellent computer literacy skills Highly motivated with well-developed time management skills Apply Now Apply to this requisition Print this requisition
