Automotive Service Technician - Collision & Mechanical Services We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician (310S) or skilled automotive technician with professional shop experience to join our collision repair operation. We are primarily an EV-focused collision repair facility, working extensively with electric vehicles and the systems, components, and repair procedures associated with modern EV platforms. The successful candidate will receive ongoing exposure and training in EV repair and diagnostics as part of their role. This position offers an opportunity to play an important role in our mechanical operations, with a primary focus on mechanical inspection, diagnosis, and repair of collision-damaged vehicles. As part of the continued development of our business, we are also establishing a dedicated mechanical service offering from our existing collision repair facility. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform general mechanical repairs and service work for local customers while supporting the mechanical requirements of our collision operation. We are looking for an experienced, dependable technician who takes pride in their work, has strong diagnostic ability, and is interested in developing their skills in both conventional and electric vehicle repair. Position Responsibilities The primary focus of this position will be the mechanical assessment and repair of vehicles involved in collisions. Responsibilities will include: Performing mechanical inspections of collision-damaged vehicles Identifying steering, suspension, drivetrain, braking, cooling, HVAC, and other mechanical damage resulting from collisions Identifying hidden or secondary mechanical damage that may not be immediately visible Performing pre-repair and post-repair mechanical inspections Removing and replacing suspension components, control arms, knuckles, wheel bearings, steering components, subframes, and related assemblies Performing wheel alignments and interpreting alignment measurements Assisting with engine, transmission, drive-unit, and drivetrain removal when required for collision repairs Performing cooling system and A/C repairs related to collision damage Performing A/C recovery, vacuum, and recharge procedures Performing mechanical diagnostic scans and basic electrical diagnosis Inspecting wiring, connectors, sensors, harnesses, grounds, and component mounting locations for collision-related damage Assisting with ADAS-related mechanical preparation and calibration procedures Following OEM repair information and manufacturer repair procedures Accurately documenting inspection findings and additional damage Completing post-repair mechanical inspections and quality-control checks Road testing vehicles when appropriate Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area EV Training & Exposure As an EV-focused collision repair facility, electric vehicles are a significant part of our daily operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop practical knowledge and experience working with EV systems and repair procedures, including exposure to: EV-specific mechanical systems Electric drive units and related components High-voltage vehicle systems and safety procedures EV cooling and thermal management systems EV-specific diagnostic procedures and scan tools Electrical and electronic systems OEM EV repair procedures EV-specific collision damage assessment Pre- and post-repair scanning ADAS and vehicle electronics Previous EV experience is an asset, but it is not required. We recognize that EV technology is a developing area of the automotive industry and will provide appropriate training and hands-on exposure to help the successful candidate develop these skills. Mechanical Service Opportunity In addition to collision-related mechanical work, this position will support the development of a general mechanical service operation within our existing facility. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform local repair and maintenance work, including: Brake and suspension repairs Steering and drivability repairs Diagnostic services Wheel alignments Cooling system repairs A/C service and repair Electrical diagnosis General mechanical repairs and maintenance EV and hybrid service and repair as appropriate Other automotive repair and service work as the department develops Our existing collision operation provides an established customer base and facility from which to develop this additional service segment. The expectation is that the mechanical service offering will develop progressively, with the technician taking on an increasing role in general mechanical repair and customer work as the operation develops. Qualifications We are seeking a technician with either a 310S Automotive Service Technician licence or significant professional experience working in an automotive repair facility. Candidates should have: Strong mechanical knowledge and practical repair experience Diagnostic and problem-solving ability Experience working safely and efficiently in a professional shop environment The ability to inspect a vehicle and accurately determine required repairs Strong attention to detail The ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the collision repair team A professional approach to workmanship, documentation, and customer service A valid driver's licence Apprentices with substantial shop experience may also be considered where their practical skills and experience align with the requirements of the position. Additional Experience Considered An Asset Experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset: Collision repair or collision-related mechanical inspection Steering and suspension diagnosis Wheel alignment Scan tools and diagnostic equipment Electrical diagnosis EV or hybrid vehicle systems EV high-voltage safety and service procedures EV diagnostic equipment ADAS systems and calibration A/C service Tesla or other OEM-specific training Engine, transmission, drivetrain, or subframe removal OEM repair information and service procedures I-CAR or other collision-industry training The Right Candidate The successful candidate will be someone who approaches automotive repair from a diagnostic and technical perspective. You should be comfortable determining not only what component has failed or been damaged, but why, and whether other components or systems may have been affected.
