Job summary

Summary: The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, functional, and welcoming. This position works both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other trades and staff. Strong customer service, proactive communication, initiative, and teamwork are essential, in addition to solid technical skills. Key Responsibilities: Safety & Compliance * Follow all legislated and company safety regulations. * Safely operate tools and equipment; use required PPE. * Inspect facilities, test equipment, and report unsafe conditions. * Ensure tenant and coworker safety; protect belongings when working in suites. Maintenance & Repairs * Complete work orders such as appliance troubleshooting, minor A/C or water heater repairs, and general building fixes. * Perform small projects including painting, carpentry, plumbing, preventative maintenance, flooring, and cleaning tasks. * Plan and organize more advanced work orders as needed. * Keep work areas clean and follow SOPs for quality and timely completion. * Assist with training new staff when required. Customer Service * Communicate clearly and respectfully with tenants, managers, caretakers, and contractors. Reporting & Administration * Use a smartphone for communication and documenting work. * Submit purchase order requests for supplies and tools. * Complete basic logs and documentation. * Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements * Minimum 3 years of apartment/commercial building maintenance experience. * Experience and/or exposure to trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and/or mechanical is required. * Ability to work independently and manage priorities. * Experience with Yardi is an asset. * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. * Ability to maintain a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. * Willingness to work occasional hours outside regular schedule and participate in on-call rotation. * Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 kg. * Basic computer/smartphone skills.
