ABOUT THE ROLE From check-in kiosks and self bag drop to biometric self boarding, Embross partners with many of the world's leading airports and airlines, delivering seamless experiences for millions of passengers globally each year. We’re currently looking for an experienced and proven Senior Mechanical Engineer / Product Designer to join our design and engineering team as we enter a new phase of growth and portfolio expansion. In this senior-level role, you'll be at the intersection of design, engineering, and manufacturing, helping define and manage how we translate big ideas into scalable, manufacturable, and sustainable solutions. You’ll work with cross-functional teams from early concept development through to production release, ensuring design-for-manufacture (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and productization best practices with authority. Your knowledge and experience will be an asset to the team as we optimize our development pipelines for efficiency, error minimization and fundamentally smart design and execution. WHAT YOU’LL DO • Oversee the mechanical and industrial design development of specific programs within our self-service hardware portfolio (Solidworks). • Drive DFM/DFA decisions across semi-complex assemblies involving sheet metal, machined parts, structural plastics, and electro-mechanical components. • Review and produce detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, GD&T documentation, and tolerance analyses. • Rapidly prototype concepts using in-house and outsourced resources: 3D printing (FDM/SLA), CNC, and low-volume tooling. • Engage with our in-house fabrication supply chain to optimize design intent for production — identifying cost-saving opportunities, part consolidation, and process improvements. • Ensure proper revision control, ECOs, and design documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. • Drive technical design reviews, collaborate with other team members, and serve as a subject matter expert in materials, process selection, and system integration. • Contribute to overall product design ethos, balancing form and function with operational efficiency and robust serviceability. WHAT YOU BRING • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field. • 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering/industrial design/product design, ideally with experience in kiosks, interactive terminals, or consumer/commercial electronics. • Expert-level knowledge of DFM and DFA principles, with a track record of bringing products to market at scale. • Deep familiarity with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, and surface finishing. • Experience interfacing directly manufacturers and suppliers during tooling, pilot runs, and production ramp-up. • Knowledge and proficiency in Solidworks, PLM systems, and basic FEA or tolerance simulation tools. Proficiency in additional tools such as Keyshot, Rhino, Blender etc a plus. • Strong grasp of materials science, part tolerancing, fastener selection, and thermal/structural considerations. • Excellent communication skills - from detailed drawings to supplier handoff packages and executive design presentations. • An appreciation for great design that serves function and brand equally - able to collaborate across disciplines to drive unified product vision. NICE TO HAVE • Background in self-service technology, transportation, or public automation systems. • Experience integrating displays, sensors, cameras, or PCBA assemblies into mechanical enclosures. • Familiarity with compliance and environmental certifications (e.g., CE, FCC, ADA, UL). • Passion for solving real-world operational challenges through smart, human-centered design. WHAT WE OFFER • World-class product engineering and development - You will join a team of leaders who are dedicated to creating innovative and impactful solutions for our clients and their customers. • Career growth and development - As a build-from-within company, we are committed to offering you a competitive salary package with responsibilities and projects designed to build mastery and leadership throughout the course of your career. • Dynamic and respectful work environment - Working alongside some of the brightest minds, you will collaborate on impactful work within a supportive environment - one where company values are always embraced and expressed, and diversity is a business imperative. To support our talented workforce, apart from the base salary, we also offer: • Employer-paid Health, wellness, and lifestyle benefits to balance your heart, mind, and body which includes Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance • STD and LTD Benefits. • A minimum of 3% of your base salary towards GRSP as an employer contribution. • Opportunity to participate in the Performance-based Profit-Sharing Program • Flexible working environment. • Frequent social events – BBQ, Bowling, Picnics, Food drives, parties, and a lot more.
