Position Description The Field System Support Technician will monitor and troubleshoot operational systems and equipment from Emterra’s Remote Monitoring Center in Surrey, BC. This role provides real-time technical and operational support to the Operations team to identify issues, coordinate solutions, and help keep operations running safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will have strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor operational systems, equipment, truck scales, cameras, and material flow to identify issues, risks, and outliers. Respond to system alarms, perform initial troubleshooting, and take appropriate corrective action. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, computer, and system issues remotely and support Maintenance and Field Service teams with resolution. Monitor and update routes, schedules, equipment availability, and operational activities using computer-based systems. Coordinate truck repair scheduling with drivers, Maintenance, vendors, and other Emterra locations. Maintain accurate logs of incidents, system alarms, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions. Support the Operations team with root cause analysis and resolution of operational issues. Escalate complex technical or operational issues to the appropriate team. Complete data entry, reports, and other administrative tasks related to Control Center operations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager. Qualifications & Skills 1–2 years of relevant work experience required. 2–5 years of experience in a technician or technical role with electrical and/or computer systems is an asset. Strong troubleshooting, fault-diagnosis, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Mechanical or technical aptitude; electrical experience is an asset. Experience with remote monitoring, dispatch, fleet, transportation, or similar operations is an asset. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and technical writing skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in waste management, recycling, or transportation is an asset. Schedule & Work Environment Full-time, 12-month contract 8-hour shifts Schedule supports a 7-day-per-week operation. Primarily office-based at Emterra’s Remote Monitoring Center in Surrey, BC. Occasional exposure to operational environments, including noise, dirt, odors, and varying weather conditions. Must follow all applicable safety procedures and PPE requirements. Occasional travel to Emterra locations or operational sites may be required.
