Your future role on our team

At BBA, we strive to implement highly secure, reliable, and robust ICS (Industrial Control Systems) systems for our industrial clients. BBA’s ICS Cybersecurity team designs and implements innovative and practical solutions that often exceed client’s expectations in meeting operational requirements.

The candidate will work hands-on in a multidisciplinary team with complementary expertise in the fields of cybersecurity, industrial technologies, OT infrastructure, OT systems programming and integration, automation/instrumentation and control, advanced control and optimization, and digital power systems/energy management systems. This makes for a vibrant work environment where the candidate can quickly learn many new things and contribute significantly to major industrial projects.

The candidate will perform assessments, feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, and detailed engineering for ICS Cybersecurity projects in the oil & gas, utility, and mining sectors. The candidate will also design, implement, configure, and support the operation of the ICS / OT systems. In addition, this role will oversee governance, documentation, and compliance with a focus on quality and rigor.

  • Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters in preparing deliverables to BBA and client standards
  • Prepare and review deliverables such as assessments, studies, reports, estimates, budgets, schedules, implementation plans, drawings, calculations, specifications, quotations, proposals, presentations, etc.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and documents in all areas of cybersecurity and physical security, while applying best practices and international cybersecurity standards (NERC CIP, ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST)
  • Conduct cyber and physical security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and provide recommendations
  • Seek out and assess technological solutions that fit with client needs and reflect market availability
  • Foster close relationships with clients and actively seek out business opportunities in cybersecurity and risk management
  • Ability to view projects from the client’s perspective and ensure they are adding value to the client
  • Travel to client sites, both to their offices and their operating sites
  • Work in the BBA labs (e.g. Industrial Cybersecurity and Digital Power Systems) to support client projects and internal development. These are cutting-edge labs and provides a hands-on development and learning opportunity to work with systems and technologies that we deploy for our clients.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Relevant undergraduate engineering degree (e.g. Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related area)
  • At least 3–7 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites and other BBA offices
  • Knowledge of latest industry trends in cybersecurity and physical security, commercially available technologies, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience with industrial control systems and industrial routable protocols
  • Experience with industrial devices such as PLCs, DCS, HMIs, IEDs, RTUs, and SCADA systems
  • Experience with various industrial network architectures
  • Experience with virtualization (e.g. VMware) and cloud platforms
  • Solid understanding of security features for Windows operating systems (MSE, MBSA, Active Directory, WSUS, SCCM, etc.), along with specialized cybersecurity tools and software
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies and systems such as risk assessments, threat and vulnerability monitoring and management, PAM, change management, inventory management, remote access with MFA, backup and recovery, patch management, network segmentation, and physical access
  • Practiced at performing hands-on commissioning tasks at client operating sites
  • Experience with projects in the energy, industrial, and mining sectors
  • Experience with product testing and vendor selection
  • Familiar with electrical drawings (schematics, wiring and layout)
  • Interest in manufacturing, industrial automation, and working in a production environment
  • Ideal candidate will the right attitude and ability to learn
  • Previous experience responding to security incidents, along with resilience planning and business continuity
  • Familiar with IP industrial networks and devices such as managed switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Experience with process data historian/analytics tools such as OSISoft PI system
  • Knowledge of best practices in IT infrastructure design, such as server rooms and telecommunications rooms
