THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Shop Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the flow of service work through the service department in a professional, timely manner while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to the customer. Further responsibilities include conducting service check-ins, scheduling, estimating, selling, updating, and following up with customers during the entire service process.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and maintain an effective dispatch system
  • Schedule shop work to facilitate maximum productivity in accordance with dealership policy and the technician skill level required
  • Prioritize and control all comebacks to ensure proper and prompt attention
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction standards through maintaining timely and professional contact with service customers
  • Schedule service appointments and perform walk-arounds with customers
  • Inspect trucks/equipment and recommends any additional needed service
  • Engage in specific efforts to sell seasonal service specials
  • Write up customer's vehicle/equipment problems while coordinating with parts department to order needed parts
  • Check on progress of repair throughout the day while advising customers on the care of their trucks/equipment
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of warranty parameters
  • Import and edit repair summaries for department review.
  • Handle telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process
  • Work alongside the Service Advisors to supervise the service shop technicians

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field
  • Four years related experience and/or training
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Truck oHeavy equipment technical knowledge would be an asset
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret financial reports
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise a high level of judgement and discretion
  • Excellent time management with the demonstrated ability to effectively manage leadership responsibilities
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Strong business ethics with a professional approach at all times and
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license
