BBA’s Mining & Metals Studies business line provides integrated multidisciplinary evaluation and due diligence services for clients from all commodity sectors of the mining industry ranging from early stage scoping studies up to and including full feasibility studies. We have a core group of senior people who provide overall management and direction of studies, supported by in-house specialists including resource geologists, biologists, mining engineers, metallurgists and mine waste specialists with the best possible expertise geared to meet the needs of each project.

BBA is Canada’s premier consultant to the mining industry with 12 offices coast to coast. BBA provides services to the mining industry at all stages of project development from exploration and resource evaluation through scoping, prefeasibility and feasibility, permitting, construction, operations, closure and rehabilitation. BBA provides distinctive sustainable solutions, exceptional support and insight to help build our clients mining prospects into a project.

BBA is currently seeking senior level professionals with extensive experience in the mining industry to join our growing Mining & Metals Studies business line. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in one of the followings areas: technical sales, resource estimation, project planning, mining engineering or mineral processing and have participated in or led front-end mining studies and economic assessments. Applicants must be able to work as a Qualified Person as per NI 43-101 regulations. Preference will be given to applicants with an entrepreneurial spirit; who are client oriented and those with the proven ability to lead integrated cross functional teams to deliver high quality and innovative studies to BBA’s wide range of mining clients.

Reporting to the National Business Line Director of Mining & Metals Studies, candidates are expected to effectively execute the following duties:

Lead regional marketing and business development for the mining sector by seeking out new opportunities through networking, referrals and market research
Develop a healthy opportunity pipeline for study work in the region
Understand the mining value chain from geology to market at a high level to prioritize prospects and focus on client opportunities and to offer BBA services from early stage studies to sustaining capital
Assist with the generation of proposals and delivering presentations for new studies / projects
Manage the execution of multiple smaller, concurrent studies / projects to meet the agreed objectives
Providing specialist technical input, leadership and management on projects including major multidisciplinary mining studies
Maintain relationships with the pool of BBA subject matter experts and ensure that they are utilized, where appropriate, to bring value and innovation to studies.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Mines and Metals business line to deliver best practice solutions through the application of knowledge of industry developments and experience of past trends or different situations
Work closely with the regional operations to staff and execute studies
Formulate effective business cases through bringing together technical knowledge and commercial concepts.

10+ years’ experience in the mining industry
University degree or college diploma in engineering or geology
Be a registered Professional Engineer, Technician or Geologist
Extensive experience in the development, delivery and operation of mining or mineral processing studies and projects
Previously worked on a client/owner`s team or been a study manager
ASSET: Mining technology or professional service sales experience
High standard of knowledge for one or more commodity types (i.e. precious metals, iron ore, base metals, industrial minerals etc.) and the mining value chain
Good understanding of NI 43-101 and JORC reporting codes and technical reports
An established contact network within designated market would be a major advantage
ASSET: Technical skills in resource estimation, mine design, process development, project planning and/or financial modelling
ASSET: Language capabilities in French, Spanish, Portuguese or Mandarin
Willingness to travel when required - Approximately 20%, mostly within Canada.
