Description: The need for personnel is for our surface project Amaruq located in Nunavut.
The surface assistant driller works in constant collaboration with the driller and must follow directives to maintain effective drilling operations.
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities
Install the drill safely with the driller;
Perform the maintenance of work tools and work surface;
See to the supply of equipment to be used;
Insure proper placement of core samples in boxes;
Manipulate the core sample tubes (place and retrieve);
Monitor the water lines, pumps, fuel and propane levels and the drill;
Assist in the displacement of the drill;
Assist and support the driller for the proper progress of the drilling activities;
Perform all other tasks necessary for the proper progress of the drilling operations.
Profile and Requirements
Have at least 1 year of experience as a surface assistant driller;
Have experience with permafrost drilling is an asset;
Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Diamond Drilling is an asset;
Hold a valid Standard First Aid and CPR card;
Hold a valid driver’s licence;
Good physical capacity and endurance;
Ability to work in an isolated and wild environment for long periods of time;
Be able to travel by airplane and helicopter;
Ability to work in a changing environment and extreme Winter climate.
28/14 or 28 consecutive working days and 14 days off
12 hours per day
Overtime after 40 hours per week
