SMTS Software Engineer (SW Power Management / Low Power Design)

Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) is running at the innovation forefront of AMD with missions in developing new low power camera / computer vision / machine learning technologies and solutions on AMD’s next generation platforms. As part of ATG, you will have the opportunity to develop and be part of a winning team that will collaborate with internal teams & customers, explore new platform technologies, and lead the development of best-in-class hardware, software and systems technologies that our customers will use to solve real-world problems.

The Role:

ATG is looking for an SMTS Software Engineer in the area of SW Low Power Design to architect / build and optimize low power solutions which will have significant impact for AMD products.

The Person:

  • In this role, you drive and work on forward-looking projects and novel system concepts to significantly impact AMD’s future product portfolio.
  • You will be responsible for driving the development of low power and power optimization technologies in different operating systems including, but not limited to, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS.
  • Your will help define AMD’s power management SW stack with insights gained from the development of advanced technologies.
  • Measure, analyze, and optimize power and performance for both application and system software/hardware stack.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and lead AMD's OS power management development and deployment for current and future products.
  • Develop software and platforms solutions that address the evolving needs of AMD’s customers.
  • Drive research and development, proofs of concept, technology transfer, and customer interactions that lead to the development of AMD best-in-class software solutions
  • Collaborate with research, engineering, and other AMD teams to drive low power solutions for next generation platforms.

Preferred Experience:

  • Solid industry experiences in working in low power design, power management, clock/frequency management, OS Kernel and/or system programming related domains.
  • Familiar with low power and power optimization techniques such as DVFS.
  • Expertise in lab equipment for measuring/profiling power on silicon and other prototype devices.
  • Familiar with ACPI, PMIC, Clocks, Regulator, etc.
  • Experience in Linux and/or Windows Kernel/Driver development
  • Expertise with operating system theories, and RTOS systems design & architectures
  • Expertise with system programming using C and C++ languages
  • Expertise with applying data structures and algorithms in coding to solve real world problems accurately and efficiently

Academic Credentials:

Master or equivalent experience in a field associated with operating system development and system programming as applied mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
