The Electrician/PLC Technician will repair equipment and use PLC programming to control manufacturing processes in the plant.


  • Repair critical electrical equipment, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and complete projects such as mechanical and electrical hardware and software upgrades.
  • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, proximity sensors, push buttons, contactors, motor starts, thermocouples, etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for making PLC program changes, installations or updates to maintain proper operations.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions in all types of equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical functions.
  • Read electrical drawings for conveyors, machines and building
  • Perform routine maintenance work on machinery, including conveyors and cranes.
  • Detect and troubleshoot issues related to facilities maintenance, if required.
  • Practice good housekeeping and time management in the performance of daily duties.
  • Comply with Electrical Safety Authority.
  • Comply with all legislated and company health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and programs, including lockout/tagout.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and in a team structure as project requires.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ related electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Certification as an Industrial Electrician (442A) or as a Construction Electrician (309A) and strong background in PLC maintenance.
  • Previous crane, conveyor, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance experience is a definite asset.
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, especially electrical drawings.
  • Position will require flexibility to work overtime and afternoon shift, as requested.

Physical Demands:

The ability to stand continuously is essential with frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching and sitting with repetitive hand and finger movements. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50 – 70 pounds). Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Work Environment:

The Electrician/PLC Technician may work near moving mechanical parts in a loud, heavy industrial environment. The Electrician/PLC Technician may also work at heights and be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. Personal Protective Equipment must always be worn (including but not limited to: steel toe safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, coveralls, hard hat, and earplugs).
