Position Overview

The quality manager is responsible for the overall quality of the Cement that is produced at the Mississauga Cement facility and for supervision of the quality department personnel.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Works with the management team to improve the management systems (ISO) for quality, environment and health and safety.
  • Actively participates on the Quality Council and Chemist net meetings.
  • Provide professional chemical support for product quality, alternate fuels (AFR),
  • raw materials and environmental departments.
  • Investigation and development of the necessary calibration curves in the x-ray analyzer and implementing new techniques to analyze alternative materials, when necessary.
  • Provide quality control for the clinker and refractory through microscopy in polished samples.
  • Monitor lab test results, product quality; and provide guidance and coordination to make the necessary adjustments to assure established quality standards are maintained.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of an internal control system for all quality tests to ensure lab standards and procedures are strictly followed.
  • Calibrate, maintain and certify instrumentation and analytical equipment.
  • Act as backup for Quality Supervisor.
  • Maintain XRF & GC calibration and equipment certification.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained in assigned work areas.
  • Ensure that quality and environmental ISO standards are met.
  • Promote and support health and safety programs and initiatives to meet OH&S objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years experience in cement manufacturing quality control necessary

Physical Requirements

  • This position may require some lifting of objects no heavier than twenty pounds (20lbs.)
  • This is sedentary in nature but may require occasional periods of standing and walking

Work Environment

  • This position is office based and is therefore indoors and climate controlled
