Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure & Operations, this position acts as the senior and lead technical support role for the Lassonde School of Engineering. This includes support for all server and desktop hardware and software, maintained by the Lassonde School of Engineering, advising users on the use of the computing facilities, software/hardware in support of teaching, research and administrative functions and oversight of the School's service-desk. This position will also be involved in special projects as assigned by the Manger, IT Infrastructure & Operations and/or Director, IT.

Education:

University degree in Applied Mathematics or an Engineering Discipline or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Certification in Computer Networking and Technical Support an asset.

Experience:

2 years of recent experience in a server and desktop installation and support role for both PC, Mac. Also required is experience in Microsoft Active Directory. Extensive working knowledge of Mathematical principles and their applicability in an academic environment an asset.

Ability to maintain confidentiality & security of sensitive material.Technical skills:a) Operating Systems: MS-Windows XP/7 (Advanced), MS Server 2008 R2 (Intermediate), Mac OS X (Intermediate), Linux- Red Hat (Advanced).b) MS Enterprise Solutions - MS Active Directory Services, Windows Server 2008 R2 (Intermediate).c) MS Supporting Technologies - AD, DNS, DHCP, TCPIP, GPO, LDAP, IIS (Intermediate).d) MS System Center Configuration Manager (Basic).e) Internet Browsers - Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari.f) Languages - HTML, PowerShell, PHP, VBScript (Basic).g) Application Packages - MS Office Suites 2010 (Advanced), MATLAB, Mathematica, Maple, Latex, Solidworks, Pro Engineer. (Advanced). Adobe Acrobat, Lotus Notes, BMC Remedy (Basic). Adobe Creative Suite.
