Role:

The Technical Support Specialist provides technical support to employees on all products distributed by SMS Equipment. The incumbent will be required to travel and offer technical support in the field.

Functions include:

  • Go on site or in workshop with technicians, to better evaluate problem cases and to support them technically or in the practical learning of the various problems to be corrected.
  • Issue a follow-up report for each intervention on site or in the workshop.
  • Collect and analyze information related to a major and/or repetitive problems and write a detailed report for manufacturers or for the internal team
  • Follow up on all technical problems with the manufacturers.
  • Communicate technical information to branches.
  • Ensure the company's compliance with manufacturers' machine modification rules.
  • Research and respond to requests for additional information from manufacturers.
  • Occasionally, provide training in accordance with manufacturer certification programs, or as per documented product changes.
  • This job involves traveling through our branches (50% of the time)

Requirements:

  • Mechanics' certification in Heavy Equipment repair or equivalent.
  • 5 to 37years’ experience in the diesel machinery industry.
  • Bilingual both oral and written in French and English.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven ability to effectively give and receive feed-back.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Initiate, organize and work independently and with a team.
  • Good knowledge of technical software and good skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
