The ideal candidate is a “seller-doer” professional who is equally as comfortable developing and maintaining relationships with our clients. The incumbent must also be as comfortable leading design projects as relying on his or her client network to generate requests for proposals, preparing and submitting proposals and managing project execution. In your role as a Senior Engineer, you will contribute to proposals, selecting technology and the interconnection process, and providing electrical solutions to clients.

The successful candidate will work on the following:

  • Develop and maintain lasting client relationships
  • Network with client contacts to assess their needs and solicit requests for proposals
  • Establish project and proposal scope
  • Lead engineering projects, design reviews and prepare technical reports
  • Plan and coordinate work, from studies to commissioning
  • Draft technical documents and provide technical training in own field of expertise
  • Help prepare engineering studies: impact analysis, ground grid study, protection study, arc flash study, etc.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs and technical specifications for construction
  • Assign and review the work of junior engineers (engineers-in-training), technicians and drafters assigned to projects and assess technical scope
  • Provide commissioning support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Member of a Canadian professional engineering association
  • Practical experience in heavy industrial sectors: mining, oil and gas, electric power (electrical distribution and infrastructure of underground and open-pit mines, protection and control (P&C), electrical arrangement, equipment specifications, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Ontario utilities standards (SIA/CIA studies, interconnections process with the IESO and utilities, ESA requirements)
  • Onsite experience and focus on work safety
  • Experience with troubleshooting, commissioning and system installation
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Available for a two-year assignment at BBA's Sudbury office and occasional travel to client sites based on project needs
  • Asset: Experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Asset: Experience performing cost estimates and preparing and presenting proposals
  • Asset: Bilingual (English/French)
