The second largest burger chain in Canada, A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. is a Canadian company that generates over $1.4 billion in revenue through more than 950 franchised restaurants.  A&W has articulated Climate Goals that sustain an exceptional corporate culture. With a steadfast commitment to Climate Goals and strategy, A&W has consistently earned recognition as a highly successful enterprise and one of Canada's Best Managed Companies.  Annually, franchised A&W restaurants curate more than 200 million guest experiences across the country.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, fluently bilingual construction Project Manager to join an exceptional company in a multi-faceted role. Based out of a home office in the greater Montreal area, the Bilingual Project Manager reports to the Director of Construction & Project Management located in North Vancouver. The position works closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including members of A&W's Design, Construction, Purchasing & Distribution, Marketing, Operations, and New Restaurant Expansion teams, as well as external partners such as architects, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, landlords and representatives of cities and municipalities. The role involves periodic business travel up to 30% of the time.

The Bilingual Project Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of all new and renovated A&W restaurants as well as for the construction phase of all Corporate and Turnkey A&W restaurants with an emphasis on the Quebec market. While general contractors are responsible for on-site construction management, the Bilingual Project Manager plays a substantive relationship management and oversight role, particularly after development and sign permits have been obtained. The Bilingual Project Manager provides proactive problem-solving support and regular reporting to ensure all projects are completed on time, on budget and in accordance with design guidelines, building codes and A&W's standards. Responsible for up to 12 projects simultaneously, the Bilingual Project Manager is supported by a Contracts Administrator and Project Coordinators on A&W's Construction and Design teams.

The candidate must be fluently bilingual in French and English and be resident in Eastern Canada, ideally in the greater Montreal area. The candidate must possess a "can-do" attitude and superb problem-solving, time-management, influencing, negotiation and technical skills. A flexible, organized self-starter and proven leader with a strong drive for results and high integrity, the candidate must have abundant comment sense, the ability to make decisions and the judgment to know when to escalate matters. The candidate must have superb written and verbal skills in both French and English and demonstrated proficiency in working on technical and design matters in both languages. The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of, and experience in, reading and understanding civil, structure, mechanical and electrical drawings. Preferably, the candidate has familiarity with new building site and building development processes and direct project management experience in the QSR industry. The candidate must have extensive experience in commercial construction and sound knowledge of current building codes, construction estimating practices and contracts. Calm under pressure, with excellent influencing, analysis and negotiating skills and solid business acumen, the candidate must have a valid driver's licence and the willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time. The candidate must have a degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Building Technology or Interior Design, at least 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It would be an asset to have had experience in restaurant design and construction and a benefit to have completed the PMP designation.
