An overview of your future role at BBA

You’ll be reporting to the Vice-President, Digital Expertise, and will be responsible for developing and deploying a plan that defines the strategic and operational objectives for the digital power systems sector. As a positive leader, you’ll have the exceptional opportunity to lead, engage and develop a highly experienced engineering team. Your main goal will be to expand the firm’s current regional successes into national successes while addressing strategic, tactical and operational aspects.

  • Deliver Canadian expansion of our digital power systems services while supported by a mature and experienced engineering and commissioning team of approximately 20 people.
  • Review and update the digital power systems strategy and action plan.
  • Identify target clients and strategies toward building a sustainable portfolio, balanced between repeat business and diverse projects.
  • Recommend potential strategic resources and organizations that can complement in-house expertise.
  • Plan and manage operational activities while also managing business development.
  • Plan and manage activities associated with using the four digital power system labs operating at BBA.
  • Develop a commercial and pricing strategy needed to win.
  • Manage assigned human, technological, informational and financial resources.
  • Review public RFPs and those specifically intended for BBA and steer the proposal execution plan and deliverables in the direction needed to win, using elements established in the pursuit strategy.
  • Identify and assess key digital power systems skills that are needed to perform high quality work and expand our markets, then hire qualified people.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices.
  • Ensure the Digital Power Systems team collaborates with departments in the three regions (Eastern, Central and Western).

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • University degree in Engineering
  • Over 10 years of experience in the power systems industry
  • Team management experience
  • Excellent relational and soft skills
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, team management and partner management skills
  • Superior communication skills, both spoken and written, and ability to adapt to the audience
  • Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of electrical substation technologies
  • Knowledge of protection relay configuration
  • Asset: knowledge of the IEC 61850 standard
  • Asset: knowledge of HMI/SCADA system configuration
  • Asset: knowledge of protection relay test equipment
