 Summary of role:

The Building Maintenance Technician will report to the department Manager and will be accountable for the maintenance of the interiors and exteriors of over 1000 rental units and their common areas. This person will be a key contributor to the team and will collaborate with other technicians. Their goal is to execute various repairs and maintenance work in prevention and as required to ensure the optimal functioning of the rental buildings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Respond to and tend to the repairs of all maintenance requests that come through our service centre.
  • Execute all minor maintenance work in accordance with their abilities and competencies.
  • Conduct all repairs and maintenance for appliances. i.e.: refrigerators, washers, dryers, and ovens.
  • Execute preventive maintenance work such as: cleaning drains, lubrification of doors and doorknobs, inspection of roofing and others.
  • Deliver cleaning products and other materials to coworkers in buildings.
  • Deliver and install or replace appliances in rentals units
  • Take part in the team meetings to report on work progress and discuss projects
  • Inform management of any defect or concerns in relation to work executed by third parties, especially when it is not part of their scope of work or field.
  • Make recommendations and take part in the continuous improvement of the maintenance and repair work processes.

What you need to be successful:

  • Professional diploma in general building maintenance. Other training relevant to the position would be a plus;
  • Have at least 3-5 years of experience in construction, or in repairs and maintenance of rental buildings
  • Good knowledge in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, plastering, painting, tiling or carpentry, (an asset)
  • Trade certificate or license (ASP) would be considered an asset.
  • Have a valid class 5 drivers’ license
  • Ability to work with various technology and platforms daily
  • Must be able to lift and move objects that are above 50lbs.
