Position Overview Our Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) supports the reliability and efficient operation of equipment throughout Garibaldi Glass’ 160,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. As part of the Maintenance team, this position is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment upgrades, and supporting the installation of new equipment. The role works closely with the Maintenance team and other departments to minimize equipment downtime, improve operating efficiency, and ensure maintenance work is completed safely, effectively, and in accordance with company and equipment manufacturer requirements. Key Responsibilities Completing upgrades or repairs that will enhance operating efficiency and or life cycle of equipment Assisting in teardowns, re-assembly and/or installation of mechanical equipment Ensuring breakdowns are handled in the most efficient manner Carrying out mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic adjustments on equipment Performing preventative maintenance per company and machine manufacturer’s recommendations Ensuring all work is completed to schedule and is cost effective Collaborating with maintenance coordinator on parts and services ordering Ensuring all maintenance-generated paperwork meets company procedures Participating in ongoing maintenance projects Utilizing strong mechanical skills and experience to act as a mentor to apprentice millwrights Adhering to all company safety standards Qualifications (Education, Experience, Training) Valid BC or Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright ticket or equivalent experience/schooling 1 -3 years of experience as an industrial mechanic within a manufacturing environment Welding and fabrication experience Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Excellent trouble shooting skills Strong oral and written English communication skills Strong team player with the ability to also work independently Ability to prioritize workload and effectively meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail Ability to work within a dynamic and quickly changing environment Experience in reading and drawing diagrams and schematics Available to work either Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday Available to work holidays if shutdown maintenance is required Working Conditions This position mainly works in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Plant: Temperature controlled indoor area Comfortable environment with exposure to some dust, dirt or other conditions which might produce mild discomfort. Frequent, short periods when it is necessary to pay close attention to the monitoring of sights and sounds. Safety sensitive environment with mobile equipment and overhead cranes. Physically demanding job requiring one to stand for extended periods of time. Most departments have a requirement to lift 50lbs or more.
