Gateway Technician

Job Summary: The Gateway Technician is a technical operations role that reports to the Regional Manager and is responsible for on-site facility management activities. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: * Operate and maintain all aspects of the Globalstar satellite earth station. * Maintain and monitor facility elements including power systems, HVAC, fire suppression. * Maintain and monitor Gateway RF sub-system ensuring system uptime and resources are being properly monitored and maintained. * Coordinate and work with external vendors for site maintenance. * Follow provided documentation and procedures. * Maintain detailed knowledge of the elements of the Gateway Systems. Skills and Competencies: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management * Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail * Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks * Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality * Proficiency with Microsoft Office * Familiarity with NetSuite * Logical troubleshooting skills * Willingness to learn new technologies is a requirement * RF system and test equipment knowledge and hands-on experience * Fundamentals of telecommunications, electrical systems, mechanics and computer networking * Proven time management skills with ability to meet deadlines * Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills * Proficient in reading, writing and communicating in English required Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications: * High School diploma or GED-equivalent * 2 years experience in a related industry preferred * Familiarity with IP networks and their associated interfaces such as routers, switches and hubs is preferred * Strong understanding and hands-on experience in an operational environment supporting electrical and mechanical facility sub-systems * Facility maintenance experience in an operations environment is an asset * Electrical or mechanical engineering technician, technologist or equivalent is an asset * Experience in installing or maintaining satellite or microwave equipment is an asset Physical Requirements: * Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed * Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours) * Ability to operate the equipment used for the job * Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job * Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally for short- and medium-term assignments required; valid passport required * Ability to lift 75 pounds at times * Ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, climbing ladders and working at moderate heights such as atop scaffolding * Willingness and ability to work flexible shift schedule * Willingness and ability to work on-call to support 24/7/365 network operations Marginal Functions: A review of this job description may have omitted some of the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of the job duties and responsibilities. The Gateway Technician is responsible for the on-site operation and maintenance of the Globalstar satellite earth station. This includes monitoring RF sub-systems, managing facility elements like power and HVAC, and coordinating with external vendors.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and preferably two years of experience in a related industry, with knowledge of IP networks and electrical/mechanical systems. Physical ability to lift 75 pounds and willingness to work flexible shifts and travel is required.
