Company Description Halifax Vision Centre is an ophthalmology clinic located at 7105 Chebucto Rd, #353, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The clinic provides comprehensive and glaucoma eye care services to a large patient population in the Halifax region. Team members work closely with the ophthalmologists to support diagnostic and treatment services. The environment is focused on high-quality patient care, clinical excellence, and efficient clinic operations. Role Description The Ophthalmic Technician supports ophthalmologists in delivering clinical eye care services during patient visits. This full-time, on-site role in Halifax, NS involves preparing exam rooms, taking patient histories, and performing basic diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements and visual field testing. The technician prepares the patient prior to seeing the ophthalmologist, helps maintain equipment, and ensures accurate documentation of clinical findings in patient records. Daily responsibilities include guiding patients through their appointments, performing diagnostic testing, and collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to keep patient flow efficient. Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and clearly with patients and colleagues. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow clinical protocols and safety procedures. Comfort working in a fast-paced outpatient clinic and managing multiple tasks and patients throughout the day. Previous experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician, or formal training in ophthalmic assisting, is an asset.
