Role: Field Technician I Location: Toronto Job Type: Contractor / Part-Time Department: Field Operations / Technical Services Reports To: Field Tech Manager Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated Field Technician I to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of technology and low-voltage systems at customer locations. The successful candidate will assist with structured cabling, fiber optics, security systems, wireless technologies, point-of-sale (POS) equipment, digital displays, and other technical infrastructure while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to safety standards. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, test, and repair technical equipment and systems at client sites. Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, inspections, and system upgrades. Install and support structured cabling, fiber optic networks, and low-voltage infrastructure. Assist with deployment and maintenance of access control, CCTV, surveillance, and security systems. Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless networking equipment, antennas, and signal-boosting systems. Deploy and support POS terminals, payment devices, peripherals, and related technologies. Install and configure digital signage, displays, audio-visual equipment, kiosks, and media systems. Document service activities, maintenance records, and technical findings. Provide on-site customer support, basic user training, and issue resolution. Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition. Follow company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations at all times. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or certification is an asset. Basic knowledge of networking, structured cabling, fiber optics, electronics, security systems, or related technologies. Experience using hand tools, installation equipment, and diagnostic tools. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. Willingness to travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules as required. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred Skills Familiarity with CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, fiber optic testing, CCTV, access control, wireless systems, POS technologies, and digital signage. Understanding of industry best practices and low-voltage installation standards.
