Job summary
Job Title: Field Technicians Location: Onsite (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, London, Montreal (Priority: Toronto, Vancouver & Calgary) Duration: 3-6 Month Contract Rate: $20-22/hr on T4 We are seeking reliable and hands-on Field Technicians (Junior and Level 1) to support installation, deployment, and maintenance projects across Canada. These positions are ideal for candidates with experience in low-voltage systems, cabling, telecommunications, electrical installations, or technical field services. Technicians will work on a variety of client sites including retail locations, warehouses, data centers, offices, construction sites, and telecommunications facilities. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and support cabling, fiber optic, surveillance, access control, and technology infrastructure systems. Perform rack and stack activities, equipment mounting, cabinet assembly, charging station setup, and scanner installations. Support deployment of POS systems, computers, GPS devices, networking equipment, and related technologies. Read and follow project documentation, site requirements, and installation procedures. Ensure compliance with safety standards while working with ladders, lifts, power tools, and technical equipment. Communicate project updates, site status, and completion reports to project coordinators and management. Travel to client sites within a 2-3 hour radius of the home location and occasionally support projects in other provinces. Support after-hours, weekend, or overnight project work when required. Requirements Junior Field Technician Approximately 1 year of experience, apprenticeship experience, technical education, or exposure to low-voltage/electrical environments. Comfortable using hand tools and power tools. Basic understanding of cabling, hardware installation, or telecommunications systems. Ability to lift and carry equipment safely. Strong willingness to learn and gain hands-on field experience. Level 1 Field Technician Minimum 3+ years of field technician, telecommunications, electrical, low-voltage, or similar technical experience. Ability to independently complete installations and manage smaller projects. Experience with cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, rack & stack, and device mounting. Capable of mentoring and supporting junior technicians on-site. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. General Requirements Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. Own basic tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Comfortable travelling to client locations. Ability to work in physically demanding environments and lift equipment as required. Excellent communication and reliability. Work-at-heights, access control, or other industry certifications are considered an asset. Ideal Candidate Background in telecommunications, low-voltage systems, electrical trades, cabling, field services, or technical installations. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused. Strong communication and reporting skills. Looking for flexible part-time work with potential future full-time opportunities. Work Schedule Approximately 20 hours per week, depending on project requirements. Flexible part-time/on-call schedule. Evening, weekend, and overnight work may occasionally be required. Candidates may maintain other part-time employment alongside this role. Travel & Territory Primary service areas include Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, London, and Montreal. Travel within a 2-3 hour radius of the technician's home location is expected. Occasional travel to other provinces may be required. Flights, travel time, and approved business expenses are reimbursed.
