Your New Role Our client is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join their Ottawa office and support a growing portfolio of institutional, commercial, residential, and existing-building projects across Ontario. Working within a multidisciplinary consulting environment, you will be involved in the design, assessment, evaluation, and rehabilitation of structures from concept development through to construction completion. The role will combine structural design responsibilities with site investigations, condition assessments, contract administration, client interaction, and project coordination. This opportunity is well suited to an engineer who enjoys a balance of technical design, existing-building work, client engagement, and collaboration with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. Key Responsibilities Complete structural design and analysis for new construction, renovation, rehabilitation, and retrofit projects Conduct structural assessments, site investigations, and evaluations of existing buildings and structures Prepare structural reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation Review and coordinate projects with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams Perform site reviews, condition assessments, field inspections, and contract administration activities Provide structural solutions for repairs, rehabilitations, alterations, and building upgrades Participate in proposal preparation, budgeting, and client presentations as required Support junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff through mentorship and knowledge sharing Ensure compliance with OBC, NBCC, CSA standards, and internal quality assurance procedures What You'll Need to Succeed Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering focus Approximately 5+ years of structural consulting experience Experience with both new construction and existing-building projects Exposure to structural assessments, rehabilitation, retrofits, restoration, and renovation projects Strong understanding of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structural systems Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation Familiarity with site inspections, field reviews, and contract administration Registered P.Eng. or actively pursuing professional licensure through PEO Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary consulting teams What You'll Get in Return Base salary of approximately $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience Profit-sharing bonus program RRSP and comprehensive benefits package Health Spending Account and Wellness Allowance Hybrid and flexible work environment Exposure to complex and meaningful projects across Ontario Career progression opportunities within a growing national consultancy Collaborative culture with mentorship, professional development, and regular social events This posting is for an existing vacancy with the organization.
