JOB DESCRIPTION Insight Global is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to support a major carbon capture capital project in Regina, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, this individual will provide technical review and oversight of electrical engineering deliverables, support project execution activities, and assist with commissioning and startup efforts throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with EPC contractors, operations teams, and project stakeholders to ensure electrical systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and long-term operational objectives. This is a on-site 6 month contract opportunity in Regina with high likelihood of extension or conversion to full time. Key Responsibilities • Review and provide technical feedback on electrical engineering deliverables, including: ○ Substations ○ Switchgear ○ Transformers ○ MCCs (Motor Control Centers) ○ Electric motors ○ Cable schedules ○ Cable tray routing and layouts • Support electrical design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical workshops. • Review motor control philosophies, equipment selections, and power distribution designs. • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and project specifications. • Interface with SaskPower and support integration with gas turbine generation systems. • Participate in scope development, engineering reviews, and project execution activities. • Support energization, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities. • Assist in developing asset care and maintenance strategies for long-term operations. • Collaborate with operations, construction, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience within heavy industrial environments. • P.Eng. designation preferred; advanced EIT candidates nearing designation will be considered. • Experience with: ○ Industrial power systems ○ Substations ○ Switchgear ○ Transformers ○ MCCs and electric motors ○ Cable routing and electrical infrastructure ○ Hazardous area classifications ○ Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) • Experience reviewing engineering designs and technical deliverables. • Strong understanding of electrical system design for capital projects. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Owner's Engineer, Owner's Representative, or owner/operator experience. • EPC project experience. • Large industrial capital project experience. • Gas turbine generation systems. • Electric heat tracing systems. • Commissioning, startup, and operational readiness support. Experience within refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, mining, potash, oil & gas, or power generation environments.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least four years of electrical engineering experience in heavy industrial environments are required. Candidates should have experience with industrial power systems and related electrical equipment, Canadian Electrical Code compliance, and engineering design reviews; a P.Eng. is preferred, with advanced EIT candidates nearing designation also considered.
