Accounting Technician $80,000 · Montreal (Hybrid, 3 days in-office) · Full-time Location: Montreal, Quebec (Hybrid, 3 days in-office minimum) About Kompas Kompas is a next-generation property management and accounting platform built for modern real estate operators. The Role This is a hands-on, accounting-first role for an experienced bookkeeper or accounting technician who loves solving real problems. Our customers are real estate operators, bookkeepers, and accountants who rely on Kompas to keep their books accurate. When they hit a reconciliation that won’t balance, a chart-of-accounts question, or an entry that isn’t behaving, you’re the expert they turn to. Roughly 70% of your day is genuine accounting work; the rest is helping customers get the most out of the platform. This is not a scripted support seat. It’s a role where you apply real technical knowledge every day, translate accounting concepts for non-accountants, and make sure every customer leaves with their problem actually solved. What You’ll Do • Be the accounting expert customers turn to, resolving reconciliations, chart-of-accounts setup, and troubleshooting accounting entries with accuracy and confidence • Help customers get real value from the platform, guiding them through features and workflows so their day-to-day runs smoothly • Support onboarding and data migrations, making sure new customers move their books over cleanly and start on solid footing • Write and improve SOPs, process-improvement documentation, and knowledge-base guides that make the whole customer base more self-sufficient • Translate accounting concepts into plain language for customers who aren’t accountants • Support customers across email, our ticketing system, and phone What We’re Looking For • 5+ years in a bookkeeping or accounting technician role • Strong command of accounting fundamentals across reconciliations, chart of accounts, and journal entries • Comfort learning accounting software and explaining it clearly to others • Clear, patient communication skills, in both writing and conversation • A problem-solver’s mindset and genuine care for getting customers to the right answer • Experience with real estate or property-management bookkeeping is a strong asset • A track record of building documentation, SOPs, or process improvements is a bonus • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset What This Role Is (and Isn’t) This role is: • Accounting-first and problem-solving • High ownership of customer outcomes • Cross-functional, with your insights helping shape the product • A launchpad into customer success, onboarding, or product This role is not: • A scripted call-center job • Bookkeeping-only or data entry • A strategy-only or people-management role Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary of $80,000 • Health and dental benefits • RRSP matching program • Annual wellness allowance • Annual professional development allowance • 4 weeks paid vacation • Indoor parking or public transit reimbursement Why Join Kompas • Real accounting work with real variety, since no two tickets are the same • Clear direction, high ownership, low bureaucracy • Mentorship and professional development • Your voice, closest to the customer, feeds directly into how we improve the product • Opportunity to grow with a scaling SaaS brand • Work that is visible, valued, and impactful

Ce que vous ferez

Act as the primary accounting expert for customers to resolve complex reconciliations and chart-of-accounts issues. Support onboarding, data migrations, and the creation of process-improvement documentation to enhance customer self-sufficiency.

Exigences

Requires over 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or as an accounting technician with a strong command of accounting fundamentals. Proficiency in explaining technical concepts to non-accountants and experience in real estate bookkeeping is highly valued.
