Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description This intermediate to senior Electrical Engineer role focuses on delivering comprehensive engineering and design services for oil and gas processing facilities. You establish design criteria and lead the preparation of specifications, calculations, drawings, and other deliverables in line with project requirements. The position involves reviewing and approving electrical equipment specifications and data sheets, participating in 3D model reviews, supporting area classification and fugitive emission studies, and resolving technical issues in both shop and field environments. You will contribute to a growing team with a strong pipeline of projects, offering long-term potential and professional growth. Responsibilities Establish electrical design criteria and implement the preparation of specifications, design documents, computations, and deliverables according to project requirements. Review and approve electrical equipment specifications and data sheets, including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), protection relays, motors, generators, and transmission and distribution equipment. Participate in 3D model reviews to ensure accurate integration of electrical systems within overall plant layouts. Assist in the development of Area Classification Drawings and support Fugitive Emission studies. Perform shop inspections and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) on electrical equipment and systems. Identify and resolve technical issues in the shop and field, providing clear guidance and engineering support. Design and check electrical systems and control panels, including the ability to work through panel layouts and associated documentation. Work on MCC builds, switchgear, and high voltage systems ranging from 120 V up to 5 kV, including design of lighting programs and cable sizing. Develop and support electrical designs for field packages in a fast-paced project environment. Contribute to the design of gas plants or heavy oil facilities, applying relevant process and facility experience where applicable. Apply ETAP power system modeling and analysis to support plant layout and electrical system design. Use AutoCAD Electrical and Navisworks to produce and review electrical design drawings and models. Ensure designs comply with CEC, NEC, UL codes, and other applicable industry regulations and standards. Collaborate closely with internal designers and multidisciplinary teams, communicating clearly to review and progress design packages. Participate in continuous improvement of design standards, tools, and processes within an EPC/EPCM environment. Essential Skills Recognized degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) membership in APEGA. 10+ years of directly related experience in electrical design for oil and gas processing facilities. Proven experience working within EPC and EPCM project environments. Strong background in ETAP power system modeling, analysis, and plant layout. Hands-on electrical design experience (minimum 10+ years), including both design and checking responsibilities. Minimum 3+ years of experience using Navisworks for model review and coordination. Ability to understand and work through control panels, including reviewing and interpreting panel layouts and documentation. Experience working on MCC builds, switchgear, and high voltage systems from 120 V up to 5 kV. Capability to design lighting programs and perform cable sizing for industrial facilities. Experience working on field packages in a fast-paced project environment. Familiarity with CEC and NEC industry regulations and standards. Proficiency with ETAP and AutoCAD Electrical. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal designers and cross-functional teams. Balanced electrical and control experience, rather than solely power-oriented background. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing or modular fabrication experience, particularly in a module-based environment. Exposure to DeltaV or similar control systems, even at a conceptual or review level. Experience using Bluebeam for drawing review, markup, and collaboration. Knowledge of UL codes and related certification requirements. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively, including with internal design teams. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects. Ability to independently review and progress design packages from concept through detailed design. Work Environment You join a collaborative team of approximately 50–60 professionals working on site full-time in an EPC/EPCM setting. The environment is fast-paced, with multiple ongoing projects focused on oil and gas processing facilities, gas plants, and heavy oil facilities. You work closely with designers and engineers across disciplines, using tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Navisworks, and Bluebeam to develop and review detailed electrical designs and 3D models. The culture emphasizes professional growth, long-term potential, and continuous learning, with opportunities to deepen your expertise in industrial electrical systems, control panels, MCC builds, high voltage equipment, and field packages. Work is primarily office-based within an engineering facility, with periodic visits to shops or field locations for inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests. Attire is typical of an engineering office and industrial setting, with appropriate safety gear required when visiting shop or field environments.
