Well, we have the perfect training opportunity for you! We are looking for a bright and talented LPN to take the Perioperative Course and become part of our amazing team at the MCH. The Perioperative Course through MacEwan University consists of: 3 theory courses that are completed over three months (online), an 8 day lab followed by a 380 hour clinical competency portion held at the MCH. You must successfully complete all portions, including the OR clinical preceptor portion to become an ORT and retain a position in the OR. This position is subject to provisions in LOU # 7 RE: OPERATING ROOM AND ORTHOPEDIC TECHNICIAN TRAINING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY in the AUPE Collective Agreement. The successful incumbent will learn and grow to become be an integral member of the patient care team functioning in the scrub and circulating roles. The LPN/ORT works to their full scope of practice contributing to the assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care in the surgical setting; in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Description: Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician (LPN-ORT) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN-ORT works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement. Classification: Operating Room Technician Union: COV AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Operating Room - MCH Primary Location: Misericordia Community Hosp Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.63 Posting End Date: 11-SEP-2026 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 21-SEP-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 38 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $34.76 Maximum Salary: $45.56 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Must be registered with and hold a valid practice permit from College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) prior to commencing employment. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications: Must be able to lift 25lbs and have the physical ability to push, pull, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time (more than 30 minutes). Minimum two years recent acute care nursing experience. Demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Demonstrates advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Computer skills including experience with electronic charting & Microsoft Outlook. You must successfully complete all portions of the Perioperative Course at MacEwan University, including the OR clinical preceptor portion to become an ORT and retain a position in the OR. This position is subject to provisions in LOU # 7 RE: OPERATING ROOM AND ORTHOPEDIC TECHNICIAN TRAINING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY in the AUPE Collective Agreement. Preferred Qualifications: Previous OR/Surgical experience.

Requirements
Candidates must be a registered LPN with a valid practice permit from CLHA and have at least two years of recent acute care nursing experience. Successful completion of the Perioperative Course at MacEwan University is required to retain the position.
