A leading Canadian food manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Technician to join its team at its Vancouver Refinery. This is a permanent position responsible for supporting product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance through laboratory testing, environmental sampling, and quality assurance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Shipping, Warehouse, and other departments to ensure products consistently meet established quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Role The selected candidate will perform a variety of laboratory and quality assurance activities, including sampling and analysis of in-process and finished products, environmental testing, laboratory equipment calibration, and preparation of Certificates of Analysis. The role will also support the facility's Quality and Food Safety Management System through non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, product holds, HACCP activities, GMP inspections, and data analysis. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Collect and analyze in-process and finished product samples and prepare Certificates of Analysis to ensure products meet established specifications. Perform environmental sampling and testing, including effluent monitoring, to support regulatory and environmental compliance. Investigate product and process non-conformances, support root cause analysis, manage product holds, and follow up on corrective actions. Support the facility's HACCP, GMP, food safety, and Quality Management Systems through inspections, verification activities, documentation, and continuous improvement. Perform laboratory equipment calibration, verification, and troubleshooting while maintaining a clean and compliant laboratory environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in a food processing, quality assurance, or related industrial laboratory environment. Strong knowledge of HACCP and GFSI-recognized food safety standards and programs. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with experience using ERP, laboratory, or quality management systems considered an asset.

Requirements
