Engineer E4 – Civil / Structural BC Hydro | 12-Month Contract | Burnaby, BC TEEMA is currently supporting BC Hydro in the search for an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer (E4) to join their team on a 12-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension. This opportunity is well suited to a well-rounded Civil/Structural Engineer with broad design experience who is comfortable supporting a variety of infrastructure projects and providing practical engineering solutions in both office and field environments. Location: Edmonds, Burnaby, BC Work Arrangement: Hybrid Duration: 12-month contract, likely to extend Pay: $90–$100/hr INC | $73–$81/hr T4/TERM Travel: Site visits across BC approximately 1–2 times per month The Role The successful candidate will provide civil and structural engineering support across a variety of BC Hydro projects and operations. The role will involve developing and reviewing engineering designs, resolving technical and field engineering issues, interpreting specifications, and supporting projects to meet safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop practical civil and structural engineering solutions for medium-complexity projects. Perform and review structural designs, calculations and engineering documentation. Support design involving structural steel, reinforced concrete and wood. Analyze and resolve technical design and field engineering issues. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, codes and standards. Coordinate with project teams, designers, contractors and other engineering disciplines. Support project planning, estimating, scheduling and quality requirements. Conduct site visits across BC as required. Contribute to technical standards and engineering best practices. Qualifications Minimum 8 years of Civil / Structural engineering experience. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC, or another Canadian jurisdiction with eligibility for EGBC registration. Broad civil and structural design experience across multiple project environments. Demonstrated structural design experience with steel, concrete and wood. Strong practical engineering judgement and problem-solving ability. Experience across a variety of project types rather than a highly specialized background. Familiarity with engineering design/analysis software, CAD systems and drawing standards. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be based in the Lower Mainland and available for periodic site travel across BC. Assets Previous experience supporting utility, infrastructure or power generation projects. Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Field/site engineering experience. Previous experience working with BC Hydro or another Canadian utility. Additional Requirements The successful candidate will require access to an EGBC Permit to Practice before beginning the assignment. Engineering work sealed by the contractor will be completed under BC Hydro's Professional Practice Management Plan. A background check and drug & alcohol test will be required. The contractor will also be required to provide their own laptop and phone.
