Technologist II Salary range: $59,094.75 -$63,995.75 (Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity) Hours per week: 36.25hrs Paid leave: 3 weeks vacation per year Position End Date: August 27th, 2027 Posting closing date: Until Filled View a summary of our benefits and perks for salaried employees Reporting to the Academic Chair, this position provides maintenance and service support to the Welding Apprenticeship, Welding and Fabrication Technology, and Pre-Employment welding department, as well as other departments throughout the school as required. Maintain & repair operational equipment, demonstration equipment, instrumentation, analytical equipment and other mechanical components related to the welding trade. Monitor & maintain inventory levels for equipment and a lab consumable. Monitor & maintain hand tools, power tools and tool boards. Maintain levels for equipment and lab consumables. \n The Role Control & maintain all inventory used in the welding labs. Stocking consumables and preparing and stocking weld coupons Perform maintenance & repairs to operational and non-operational equipment to OEM standards Prepare and maintain demonstration equipment for the instructors in the labs. Provide technical support to the welding section Monitor & maintain hand tools, power tools and tool boards and maintain inventory of all tooling Research equipment specifications for proper repair schedules and procedures SAFETY: Adhere to legislation, guidelines, and safety standards as required by government agencies or regulators, and those communicated by management and supervisors. Follow all SAIT general Health & Safety regulations, rules, codes of practice, standard operating procedures in the HSEMS Manual. Etc. Other duties as assigned Skills Required Strong communication, both written and verbal Excellent organizational and time management Fluent in English reading and vocabulary Class 5 license- Abstract required Must be able to safely lift 20 kilograms, extended walking, bending, etc. Must be willing to be trained in the following. (SAIT COR Safety program, First Aid (Emergency), WHMIS, Welding section specific training. Qualifications & Experience Minimum Minimum High School Grade 11 Preferred High School Grade 12 with post-secondary or vocational training Qualifications, Certifications or Designations Preferred Journeyperson certification in an applicable trade.
