Filter Processing Technologist Department: Filter Processing Location: 2700 Swansea Crescent Reporting: Filter Processing Supervisor or coordinator Date last modified: June 11, 2026 Summary statement The primary role of the Filter Processing Technologist is to perform measurements and analyses and to make decision based on these in the pursuit of filter processing. Major Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performing complex and special measurements on post coating products. 2. Performing product reliability testing of first articles and new processes and performing first article compliance checks. 3. Advise or training other employees on proper procedures. 4. Launching of work in progress by making decisions on the viability of the product to progress through to the next phase of processing. 5. Determining annealing curves based on specifications. 6. Loading of automated systems. 7. Performing optical and visual inspections to ensure quality based on specifications. 8. Preparing reports and data entry as required. 9. May require liaising with Engineers, R&D personnel and Production supervisors on the operations, outcomes and documentation. 10. Follows safety procedures as set out in the Health and Safety policy and internal trainings. 11. All other assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications and Skills 1. Graduation from a Community College in Technology or the equivalent. 2. Demonstrated hands-on abilities with or knowledge of Optics. 3. Familiarity with computers and software control. 4. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel. 5. Ability to make decisions using good judgment while lacking complete information. 6. Ability to communicate effectively. 7. Ability to perform under time pressures. 8. Controlled Goods Program (CGP) certification. Working Conditions 1. This position involves significant responsibility and requires independent decision making. 2. Frequent exposure to controlled substances. 3. This position may require working on rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekend shifts. Type of Supervision Received Task assignment is given by the Filter Processing Supervisor or coordinator, priorities on how to carry out the task assignments may be set by the incumbent. Yearly performance reviews and setting of annual performance goals are done together with the Filter Processing Supervisor or coordinator.
